OHIOPYLE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities in western Pennsylvania said the body of a man who disappeared after his raft capsized on a river at the Ohiopyle State Park over the weekend has been recovered.
Jim Juran, operations manager of Ohiopyle State Park, said the body of 22-year-old Rob Vega was spotted by a members of a guided raft tour Monday evening on the Youghiogheny River.
Authorities said the body was recovered at about 7 p.m. Monday in a remote area of the park. The victim was pronounced dead by the Fayette County coroner's office.
Officials with White Water Adventurers said the man's raft flipped at a place called Dimple Rock and he was swept about 200 yards downstream, disappearing near an area known as "Swimmer's Rapid."
