Pittsburgh Penguins stalwart Bryan Rust left Saturday’s preseason finale at Buffalo because of an undisclosed injury.
Rust, who has pretty much by consensus had a strong training camp, had his last shift in the 3-1 Penguins win Saturday at 10:30 of the second period. The team announced he would not return to the game.
After the game, coach Dan Muse said Rust was being evaluated.
The team already was dealing with injuries to forwards Ben Kindel, Blake Lizotte and Justin Brazeau.
