Municipal truck crashes into Cranberry Township home

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Cranberry Township couple is feeling grateful to be alive after a municipal truck came crashing into their house.

The vehicle, which was unoccupied, came to a stop only by crashing into the home’s staircase on Monday afternoon.

A couple and their dogs were inside at the time, but were not harmed.

“I looked out the window and I saw the truck coming down and I knew it was going to hit our house,” said Nancy Paffenroth. “I hollered at my husband ‘Oh, my God!’”

The truck took out a porch pillar and caused debris to go flying into the house. Channel 11 could observe extensive damage on and around the staircase. The front of the home has now been boarded up.

“I was scared to death,” Paffenroth said.

The couple called 911 and restoration crews were sent to make repairs.

Paffenroth said that they can continue to live in the house, but full restoration could take several months.

Channel 11 reached out to Cranberry Township officials to find out what exactly caused the unoccupied vehicle to roll into the home. We further asked officials what the township is doing to help the Paffenroths. At the time this article was published, we had not received answers.

Paffenroth said she feels fortunate that no one was hurt.
