Carlow University is looking for a man the university says entered a dorm building and stole cash and credit cards.
The university says the man was able to get inside Frances Warde Hall without a university card by following a person inside a door along 5th Avenue.
“I’ve left my stuff at the library, in the classroom, and I never had any problems, so I don’t think this is really... representative of the community that we live in,” student Trong Hoang said. “Something like that doesn’t really happen to our community. It’s gotta feel, you know, heartbreaking for them. We don’t really got that much cash on us.”
“The safety of our students, faculty, and staff depends on all of us looking out for one another,” wrote Carlow University Chief of Police Jeffery D. Besong.
The university is urging students not to hold the door for anyone they may not know.
“It’s hard to tell who’s coming in and out. Like people of all ages are going to college, going to school, you can have, like some people in my classes are, you know, 50 years old,” student Tynan Aherne said.
The doors along 5th Avenue will not be accessible ‘until further notice’.
The university is urging anyone who recognizes the man to call campus police at (412) 578-6007.
