An event Saturday on the Allegheny River celebrated breast cancer survivors.
It was the eighth annual Dragon Boat Festival at Pittsburgh Brewing Co. in Creighton.
The effort began with 17 teams paddling to raise money for breast cancer survivors.
It’s since grown to around 40 teams, complete with entertainment, food and family fun.
“It just warms our heart that breast cancer (survivors) can get together and celebrate as sisters,” Hearts of Steel co-founder Darlene Goldfinch said.
The event’s hosts, the Pittsburgh Hearts of Steel racing team, recently returned from a trip to France.
The team competed with 4,500 other breast cancer survivors from around the world.
