EDGEWOOD, Pa. — The Edgewood Borough Police Department is condemning racist flyers that have recently been distributed across the community.
“There is no place here for racism, hatred, or messages intended to divide or intimidate our neighbors,” the department said in a Facebook post. “Sadly, there are those who attempt to use tragedy and difficult moments to spread hate or further their own agendas. Those actions do not represent the values of our community.”
The police department did not specify which tragedy it was referring to, but last week, a UPMC doctor was murdered, and his wife was injured in a stabbing attack inside their Edgewood home.
Edgewood police said they are working with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office and Allegheny County Police.
The borough is encouraging residents to review their cameras for any video that may help police identify those responsible. Anyone with information is asked to email policechief@edgewoodboro.com or call 911.
Police reassured the community that they will continue to be present and engaged, and reminded everyone to look out for one another and reach out to their department if they have concerns.
