A neighbor told Channel 11 that he was awoken at around 2 a.m. to learn the building was on fire.
He said he and his family rushed out of their house that was already smelling of smoke.
The apartment building, located at Mount Street and 3rd Avenue in Koppel, was in flames.
Our crew at the scene said almost every window was busted out of the building and there was black soot on the inside and outside.
The neighbor said there are two apartments on the first floor and one on the second. The residents in the bottom two apartments weren’t home and the second floor was vacant and was being remodeled.
