Charles Miles, 26, is charged with criminal homicide in the death of Jacqueline Bush, of Bellevue, according to police.
Bush was found dead inside a Courtright Street home about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, officials said. She died of a gunshot wound to the trunk.
“This is a 25-year-old female, which makes that unusual. And she suffered from a gunshot wound, which is also unusual in terms of our statistical profiles,” said Cmdr. RaShall Brackney.
When interviewed by police, Miles claimed that he went to the home after going to several bars Friday night. While in the basement with Bush, Miles said the two were dancing and drinking when he found a firearm that was on a table. Miles said the gun went off when he tried to move it.
Neighbors tell Channel 11 News that they often see people coming and going out of that house.
According to court records, Miles pleaded guilty to charges in connection with a violent robbery in 2012 and is not to possess or use a firearm.
The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Homicide Unit continues to investigate.
