Hundreds of cancer survivors take part in PNC Survivors Walk, joined by Merril Hoge

PITTSBURGH — Hundreds of cancer survivors, along with their family and friends, took part in the PNC Survivors Walk on Friday evening.

The walk started and ended at Stage AE. Former Steeler Merril Hoge spoke and shared his story of fighting lymphoma in 2003.

Hoge has been cancer free for nearly 20 years.

“To me, it’s extraordinary because events like this are what created a treatment so that I could be alive,” Hoge said. “So indirectly what they’re doing tonight and today is helping save lives.”

Events will continue Saturday with the inaugural Rush to Crush Cancer, a bike ride that will benefit the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
