PITTSBURGH — Walkers and runners were invited to hit the pavement for a free community run in support of people impacted by cancer.

The event was hosted by Cancer Bridges, an organization that supports people whose lives have been touched by cancer.

It was held in remembrance of Sean T. Smith, who lost his battle with leukemia in 1995.

“Cancer Bridges is honored to be the beneficiary of the Sean T. Smith Memorial Just A Short Run event. We are deeply grateful for this partnership and the support that helps us provide nearly 200 free programs and services to individuals and families impacted by cancer each month. This event raises critical funds and helps shine a light on the importance of emotional and social support for those navigating a cancer journey,” said Cancer Bridges Executive Director, Stephanie Ciranni

The races were held at the Cancer Bridges facility on the 2800 block of Smallman Street in the Strip District.

Around 400 runners were expected to attend.
