CHURCHILL, Pa. — An NFL player was arrested in a neighborhood near Pittsburgh.
Miles Sanders, 29, is charged with DUI and careless driving after he was arrested in Churchill Borough.
According to court documents, Sanders was found in a silver Lexus that was sitting motionless in the middle of William Penn Highway near Beulah Drive.
Sanders is currently a free agent, but he most recently played for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025. He previously played for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Carolina Panthers.
He is a Woodland Hills graduate who was born in Pittsburgh.
Court documents show the arrest happened on June 8.
An officer reports Sanders was slumped in the driver’s seat as they approached the vehicle. Police said he appeared to drift in and out of consciousness and was acting lethargic when they woke him.
Officers conducted several field sobriety tests, including the walk-and-turn test, the one-leg stand test and the horizontal gaze nystagmus test.
Police said Sanders did not count his steps out loud and only took seven steps during the first step. In the second test, Sanders did not count out loud and put his foot to the ground after three seconds. Police say he showed six out of six possible clues of intoxication during the third test.
He was given a portable breath test, and police say he tested positive for alcohol.
A sealed package of suspected marijuana was also recovered from the vehicle, police say.
Officers said Sanders refused to take a chemical test.
Sanders’ attorney Phil DiLucente issued the following statement: “This is a private matter that has not even reached the Preliminary hearing stage and there will be no further comment.”
