WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — The Kecksburg UFO Festival returned this weekend for the first time in two years. The Westmoreland County tradition has been on a hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The festival is a celebration of the 1965 UFO sighting where people claimed to have seen a large, metallic, acorn-shaped object fall from the sky. The government has said it was a meteorite.
Festival visitors gather to talk about their UFO sighting stories, catching up on the ones they were unable to share over the course of the last two years. Some revisit the tales of the old Kecksburg sighting, and others share stories about sightings from recent months in the Pittsburgh area.
Visitors were treated to arts and crafts, displays from paranormal researchers, activities and refreshments.
