WHITE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — An inmate accused of spitting on a corrections officer in Indiana County has been sentenced.

Indiana County District Attorney Robert F. Manzi said Joshua Hall, 22, was serving time at the State Correctional Institute Pine Grove for a gun violation in Erie County.

Hall spit on the officer while being escorted into a restrictive housing unit, authorities said.

“Our Corrections Officers are tasked with a very difficult job. They provide security, treatment and services for inmates who have been removed from society due to the nature of their criminal actions. Our Corrections Officers face a difficult work environment where they want to provide for the opportunity for change for the inmates” said Manzi. “These men and women do not deserve to be assaulted. I thank the Officers in SCI Pine Grove for their work and to the Pennsylvania State Police for their highly professional investigation.

He will serve no less than one year and no more than two years for the incident.
