Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced a settlement with Mavis Tire Supply, LLC, resolving allegations of deceptive sales and vehicle repair practices.
Under the agreement, the company will pay $215,000 in total monetary relief.
The settlement, filed in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas by Senior Deputy Attorney General Jim Wise, takes the form of an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance. It resolves an investigation into allegations that Mavis recommended and charged customers for unnecessary repairs, billed for maintenance services that were not performed and failed to complete work in a skilled manner.
Mavis operates more than 130 branch locations across Pennsylvania.
The financial agreement allocates $190,000 in restitution for affected consumers who have filed or will file claims with sufficient documentation. The remaining $25,000 is designated for administrative costs. An additional $100,000 suspended penalty will become due and payable if Mavis violates any terms of the agreement.
As part of the settlement terms, Mavis agreed to maintain the necessary oversight and employee training to ensure compliance with state consumer protection laws moving forward.
Sunday emphasized the importance of accountability among automotive repair businesses following the announcement.
“Consumers put their trust in mechanics and car repair companies to provide reliable advice and services,” Sunday said. “This settlement will return money to consumers who paid for services they did not need or want. Anyone who has not yet filed a claim and believes they were a victim of these practices should file a complaint as soon as they can.”
Consumers who believe they were affected by Mavis’ sales or repair practices have until Jan. 26, 2027, to submit a claim for restitution. Complaints can be filed with the Bureau of Consumer Protection online, by calling 1-800-441-2555, or by emailing scams@attorneygeneral.gov.
