Multiple businesses sustain damage after water main break in Monongahela

MONONGAHELA, Pa. — Products inside Dusty’s Discounts in Monongahela are damaged after a water main break happened right outside the store.

Daniel Dires is one of four business owners along West Main Street who are dealing with the aftermath of a water line break that happened Thursday afternoon.

Bires has owned Tattoo Savior and Jazer Removal for the past 12 years.

“The landlord in the whole building said that the whole basement was completely flooded. All the wiring needs redone, everything, the hot water tanks, there’s an apartment upstairs,” said Bires.

Tobias Provan owns Zimmer Printing right next to Tattoo Savior.

“I went up and you could see the water spraying up out of the road,” said Provan. “In my head, I was just thinking, ‘oh boy, I guess there’s a problem down that way,’ and as an hour goes by, ‘oh, it’s down here.”

Dusty’s Discounts is still without heat and still without power.

Repairs are not expected to be completed for at least a week.
