Pitt football will make its 38th postseason apperance the day after Christmas.

The team announced Saturday that it’ll play Toledo in the GameAbove Sports Bowl at Detroit’s Ford Field on Dec. 26. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. and will be televised nationally on ESPN. It’s the team’s first bowl appearance since 2022, when the Panthers defeated UCLA 37-35 in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl.

The Panthers are 2-0 when playing in Detroit, with their last time competing in the city being in 2019.

This bowl game will be the fourth all-time meeting between Pitt and Toledo, who are both 7-5 this season, and their first-ever postseason encounter. It’s their first meeting since 2006.
