Police looking for suspect who fled traffic stop in North Oakland

PITTSBURGH — One person was arrested and one person is still at large following a police incident overnight that started in the city’s Bedford Dwellings neighborhood and ended in North Oakland.

Officers responded to an eight-round ShotSpotter alert on Chauncey Drive at 2:45 a.m. They received information that a possible suspect vehicle had left the area and followed it to Centre Avenue and N. Craig Street in North Oakland, where they conducted a traffic stop.

As officers were taking the driver into custody, the passenger fled into a parking garage.

Channel 11 was there as multiple police officers searched the area. They were unable to find the passenger.

Officers found a gun in the vehicle and the driver was arrested on firearms violations and is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
