Police: Woman tricked daughter into stealing cosmetics

ROBINSON, Pa. — A Rochester woman is accused of tricking her daughter into helping her steal more than three dozen items from a Robinson Township cosmetics store.

According to the criminal complaint, Mindy Conley, 33, placed 37 items from Sephora at J.C. Penney in her daughter’s stroller on April 19.

The complaint said Conley then passed the stroller on to her 16-year-old daughter, who walked out of the store with it.

Investigators said the 16-year-old was unaware that stolen items were in the stroller.

Robinson Police Chief Dale Vietmeier said shoplifting has been a problem at the mall, but this case was unique.

Conley is facing charges of retail theft and corruption of minors. She faces a preliminary hearing on June 18.
