BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. — Trees and power lines are already falling in our area. Just this afternoon traffic was blocked in Upper St. Clair and a power pole went down in South Park.
“The ground is soft and with this extra wind there will be additional trees being uprooted and knocked into lines,” said Todd Myers with West Penn Power.
The power company is gearing up for another storm, but it’s what that last ice storm left behind that will cause more problems.
“Branches anything that was hanging around from that last storm that we had didn’t have much wind, but it broke a lot of branches with ice. There’s stuff up there that can come in contact with our lines,” Myers said.

Myers told Channel 11 West Penn is preparing for up to 55 mph winds and bringing in extra crews tonight.
“Getting a head start on fixing whatever damage, we also have a lot of forestry contract crews pre-trimming,” Myers said.
The assumption is at least some wires will come down, so he has a warning for the public and asks that you report any downed lines you may see.
“People have to stay at least 30 feet away from a downed line or low hanging wire. So, make sure you treat everything as an energized power line,” Myers said.
With the storm comes rain and flood watches. Beaver County Emergency Management said it is monitoring flood-prone areas like rivers and creeks overnight.
