PPG invests $280M in Ohio plant expansion, adding 100 jobs

Alisha Bellezza, senior vice president of automotive coatings, PPG. (PPG)

Pittsburgh-based PPG is ramping up its coatings capabilities for the automotive industry, investing in a $280 million, 100,000-square-foot expansion at its existing plant near Columbus, Ohio.

PPG (NYSE: PPG) will be breaking ground on the expansion in Delaware, Ohio, on Thursday. It will add 100 jobs to the current 450 workers at the plant. The expansion will be completed by the end of 2027 and will be operational in 2028.

PPG is already a large-scale supplier of coatings to the automotive industry, from primers and corrosion protective layers to topcoats and bright colors, and is the only global coatings manufacturer that provides the full sweep of coatings. The expansion will add more waterborne technology, coatings that are more sustainable and have fewer emissions than solvent-based ones.
