PITTSBURGH — It’s been more than 10 years since the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh bought the hurricane-damaged former Broadhead-Fording public housing project in the city’s Fairywood neighborhood with the goal of bringing a new use to it.

Now, the public agency is on the brink of formalizing an agreement with the Regional Industrial Development Corporation of Southwestern Pennsylvania to redevelop the long-languishing site into a two-building industrial redevelopment.

The city agency and the nonprofit development firm issued a joint announcement on the new plan in advance of the URA’s Thursday board meeting at which the proposal will be voted on.
