SHERADEN, Pa. -- A woman said she and a group of seven others helped a fellow bus rider who nearly had her purse stolen at the Sheraden Busway on Thursday.
Terri Minor said around 5 p.m. she and the same group of women who ride the bus everyday together got off the bus on Chartiers Avenue.
As they exited the bus, Minor said she heard another woman screaming and saw she was being dragged by a man who was trying to steal her purse. That's when Minor and the group of women jumped into action and fought the man off.
“We got to right about here and me and another lady heard screaming,” Minor said. “We turned around and saw the lady on the ground. She was hollering, ‘Help!’ and the guy had her in the air. He was slamming her to the ground trying to get her purse.”
Minor said when they saw the woman being dragged, their adrenaline kicked in.
“We just all went into attack mode,” Minor said. “We started punching and kicking and screaming while he tried to block our hits.”
Minor said the man ran away after they tried to tackle him down. The man did not get away with anything.
“I hope we sent a message to leave the bus stop alone,” Minor said.
Officials said the victim suffered minor injuries and is OK.
