BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — Residents at a mobile home park in Butler County are raising concerns about the quality of the water coming from their faucets.
Jody Queen, a resident of Brady Township’s Brady Hill Mobile Park, said drinking the dirty, brown is out of the question.
contacted the out-of-state owner of the mobile home park on Thursday. He said he would never drink the water after seeing photos, saying it looks awful. He did, however, insist that it is not harmful.
Jamie Tasker, the mother of an 8-month-old girl, said she doesn’t believe the water is safe for consumption.
“Most importantly for my baby, I'm not going to let her drink this. I'm not going to put it in her formula. There's something wrong with it,” she said.
Management at the mobile home park told Marcinkiewicz that the water’s discoloration is a result of iron breaking loose from the old pipes because of a recent increase in water pressure. Management said that chlorine had been added to try to resolve the problem.
“It's been weeks. I have to go out and buy my own water,” Queen said.
The park's owner, who is based out of California, said he will be sending out letters to homeowners, telling them he's working with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to solve the issue. He also advised residents to run their water for 10 minutes or more to let it clear up before using.
