UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa.,None — Authorities in Lawrence County said a 90-year-old man was found dead after a fire in his home.
Fire officials said crews found the body of Nicholas Berbenczy after responding to the 5 p.m. Monday blaze at his Cameron Avenue home in Union Township.
Investigators said the flames started in the back of the home near an addition, possibly due to a kiln or a space heater.
Thick smoke billowed from the roof of the home, which made it tough for firefighters, crews said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday at a Beaver hospital. A state police marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.
