11 things to do in Pittsburgh this weekend (10/12-10/14)

PITTSBURGH — There's a whole lot going on in and around Pittsburgh this weekend, including several fall festivals, a night at the museum for horror fans and a bike ride to help the fight against cancer.

3-2-1 Ride

Sunday, Events start at 6:30 a.m. - Heinz Field

The 6th annual 3-2-1 Ride welcomes cyclists of all skill levels to enjoy a day of fun and fundraising, while experiencing Pittsburgh’s beautiful bike trails and scenic routes. Proceeds benefit The Woiner Foundation, whose mission is to fight melanoma and pancreatic cancer by increasing awareness, supporting patients, survivors and families and fundraising for research.

This event is part of our 11 Cares initiative.

Atmosphere

Sunday, 7 p.m. - Stage AE

Fans have been getting excited, as the release of Atmosphere's recent single “Make It All Better Again” suggests that Ant and Slug may have some new material waiting in the wings for the first time in two years! The duo will be joined by Rhymesayers labelmate deM atlaS, as well as The Lioness and DJ Keezy as special guest support acts!

Rube Fest

Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Children's Museum of Pittsburgh

It's a festival to celebrate the opening of the new Rube Goldberg: The World of Hilarious Invention exhibit! Guest inventors, artists and activities are taking over parts of the Museum to inspire your vision and put your problem-solving skills to the test.

Pumpkin Patch Trolley

Saturdays & Sundays - Pennsylvania Trolley Museum (Washington, Pa.)

Admission includes a ride to the pumpkin patch and Trolley Display building, pumpkin decorating for children, children’s games and fall-themed refreshments. Visitors will also receive a museum tour and unlimited trolley rides during the event! The Pumpkin Patch Trolley runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, and the last trolley will leave for the pumpkin patch at 4 p.m.

Walk to End Alzheimer's

Saturday, walk starts at 10 a.m. - Mazeroski Way

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease! Registration starts at 7:30 a.m.

Trax Farms 49th Fall Festival

Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Trax Farms

The annual Fall Festival on the 150-year-old farm is a tradition for many families in the South Hills and greater Pittsburgh area. There’s something for everyone from grandparents to grandkids. Enjoy a hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick-your-own pumpkin or see if you can find your way through the giant, 3-acre corn maze!

21+ Night Romero Lives

Friday, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. - Carnegie Science Center

Celebrate the legacy of the master of macabre, George Romero, with an adults-only zombie homecoming party! Suit up in your best Halloween attire, and get ready to party with an unparalleled view of the city skyline in PointView Hall. It’s spooky science and more on the night of the living dead!

Ukrainian Food Fest

Friday & Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. - Carnegie

The Parish of Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church will host its 7th Annual Ukrainian Food Festival, featuring delicious homemade Ukrainian foods and pastries from our kitchen. Sit outside or enjoy our air-conditioned parish hall (handicap accessible). Enjoy ethnic entertainment throughout the day on Saturday.

Neighborhood Flea

Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Strip District, 26th and Smallman

The act of shopping at the flea market encourages dialogue and neighborly exchanges. Meet the vintage aficionado whose plates remind you of Sunday dinner at your grandmother’s. Learn about the woodworker who forages the fallen trees of your favorite park. Sip the city’s finest coffees and eat the best the mobile food community has to offer, all while taking in the scene of a mini city in motion.

Threadbare Cider and Mead Fest

Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Threadbare Cider and Mead (Spring Garden)

Pay as you go activities include a pumpkin patch, pumpkin and apple pies, and build your own candy apples. There will be games for kids and chocolate milk from Rivendale Farms too! Pre-registration includes a free sample of their Fall Spiced Cider!

Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K Run & Family Walk

Sunday, 7:45 a.m. - PPG Paints Arena (Corner of Fifth and Washington Place)

Celebrate the start of the 2018 - 2019 Pittsburgh Penguins season by participating in the sixth annual Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K Run and Family Walk presented by Highmark. The unique 6.6K distance (4.1 miles) pays tribute to Pittsburgh Penguins great Mario Lemieux, and proceeds from the event benefit two local Pittsburgh charities; the Mario Lemieux Foundation and the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation.
