PITTSBURGH — There's a whole lot going on in and around Pittsburgh this weekend, including a movie celebration you don't want to miss, a pet adoption event and another chance for the Steelers to turn this season around.

'Night of the Living Dead' 50th Anniversary

All Weekend - Evans City

This October's Living Dead Weekend will be focused entirely on the celebration of the 50th anniversary of "Night of the Living Dead," the film that created the zombie genre. The celebration will spread from Evans City, where the movie was filmed, to Pittsburgh, where the film was conceived, produced and premiered.

Falcons at Steelers

Sunday, 1 p.m. - Heinz Field

Off to a 1-2-1 start, the Steelers need to get a few wins under their belts, and hopefully this weekend will be just what the doctor ordered. The Atlanta Falcons are 1-3, with their lone win coming against the Carolina Panthers.

DogtoberFEST

Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - The Waterfront

DogtoberFEST is an outdoor festival and showcase for the many healthy and adoptable animals that are waiting for homes at more than 100 rescues and shelters in the Western Pennsylvania region. The event also helps to bring animal rescues and shelters together for one day as a collective community of compassionate people, advocating every day for homeless animals.

Terror Trolley

Weekends in October, 7:30 p.m. - Molly's Trolleys

Come aboard the Terror Trolley and hear haunted tales of Pittsburgh’s deepest, darkest secrets. Penguins vs. Capitals, Canadiens

Thursday & Saturday, 7 p.m. - PPG Paints Arena

Is there any better time of year than hockey season? The Penguins start their season Thursday night at home against bitter rivals the Washington Capitals. Can Sidney Crosby lead the Black and Gold on a vengeance tour right out of the gate? The Penguins continue their season Saturday, again at home, against the Montreal Canadiens.

Friday, 8 p.m. - Mr. Smalls Theatre

This band took the world by storm with 2017's "SOB," and they haven't looked back. The band is currently touring for the "Tearing at the Seams" album, and concertgoers can expect a bit of Americana, a bit of soul and a whole lot of good music.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC vs FC Cincinnati

Saturday, 7 p.m. - Highmark Stadium

The final home game of the Riverhounds' regular season is primed to be a celebration. For the first time since 2015, Pittsburgh has made it to the postseason! While Cincinnati is guaranteed the top seed in the USL's Eastern Conference, don't expect the the Hounds to play dead.
