The weather last week caused a lot of headaches for many drivers, including first responders.
During that time, a Carrick woman became stuck six blocks from home at 3 a.m. Police said Zone 3 Officer Justin Hill and his partner Officer Derrick Allen responded, with Officer Allen walking to get to the vehicle to help the woman.

In a note to Pittsburgh Police Chief Scott Schubert, a grateful family member explained that the woman was coming home from work at 3 a.m. and was six blocks away when her vehicle became stuck.
“911 informed her there were multiple accidents involving emergency vehicles, salt trucks, and other people. They had no idea if or when someone would make it to her. They recommended if it was safe to do so to walk home she was a bit nervous being it was 3 a.m. in Carrick.”
Ten minutes later Officer Allen called to tell her that he parked his unit at the Carrick fire house and was walking down to get her.
“This officer walked to my mom and walked her the remaining six blocks to her house even carrying her purse.”
