Storms blew through Allegheny County overnight, lightning lit up the sky.
A family was sleeping in their Jefferson Hills home early Tuesday morning when the heard a loud noise.
It wasn’t until they heard a second noise that they knew they needed to get out of their house.

The owners said a bolt hit their house and started a fire.

Firefighters showed up to Greene Street a short time later and got the fire under control in a matter of minutes.
The assistant chief says they are looking into whether lightning started this fire.
“Right now, we’re looking into the possible weather related incident. It’s still an active investigation, so I don’t have any information on that right now. That’ll come from the national weather service and the fire Marshals office,” said Justin Allan, Jefferson Hills Fire and Rescue assistant chief.
The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating to determine the official cause of the fire.
