Firefighters called to gas line fire at Mt. Lebanon shopping center

MOUNT LEBANON, Pa. — Firefighters were called to a Mount Lebanon shopping center early Monday for a gas line fire.

A dumpster might have hit the gas meter at the Virginia Manor Shops on Cochran Road just before 1 a.m, fire officials said.

The fire marshal trying to figure out what happened.

When the gas meter was hit, firefighters told Channel 11 the whole line caught fire and so did the electrical lines outside the building.

A Channel 11 crew saw firefighters inside a number of the stores, including the Starbucks and the Hallmark store.

Five of the stories had some smoke inside, but the fire never got inside the building, firefighters said.

This is the same shopping center with the Giant Eagle, but firefighters said they weren’t inside the grocery store.
