WEST SUNBURY, Pa. — A former reverend and his wife, who are accused stealing from a Butler County church, turned themselves in Monday.
Jeffrey Lang, 46, was the reverend at the West Sunbury Presbyterian Church in West Sunbury from March 2012 to October 2018.
A forensic audit completed for 2016, 2017 and 2018 determined Lang received $33,000 more that he was supposed to, investigators said.

The reverend’s “Pastor’s Term of Call” for 2017 and 2018 included his annual salary, Social Security offset and reimbursed expenses, which included medical purchases, auto expenses and education needs, according to state police. He was not permitted to go over the allowed reimbursed compensation.
Nearly $20,000 from the church's banking account was allegedly used by Jeffrey Lang and his wife, 48-year-old Kimberley Lang, for personal purchases, including at retail stores, grocery stores and gas stations, as well as for travel, car repairs, eye care and payments to the University of Dubuque, state police said.
Lang is in jail in lieu of $15,000 bail and his wife was released on her own recognizance.
