Mother says a man attacked her son over vandalism claims at local park

PITTSBURGH — Cellphone video shows an adult man sitting on top of a 13-year-old boy, and refusing to let him leave a Greenfield playground.

According to police, the man believed the boy was vandalizing the playground and a nearby abandoned truck.

The boy told detectives that never happened, and the man started attacking him.

Police said the man on top of the boy was Thomas Dandrea. He is now facing assault charges, but is not in jail.

"How could you? How could you? Weren't you raised better? What if your mother saw this video, how would she feel to see her son attacking a child? I think she would be disgusted," Shalaya Hasbrouck, the boy's mother, said.

Channel 11 went to Dandrea's home Friday, but he was not there. His wife said that he was the real victim in the situation.
