WILKINSBURG, Pa. — A group is pushing again for Wilkinsburg to join with the City of Pittsburgh.
The Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation’s Merger Steering Committee announced it has started a petition drive and is looking for at least 1,000 signatures.

A news release from the group said this move to be annexed by the city comes after new census data showed Wilkinsburg lost 10% of its population and 20% of its Black population in the last 10 years.
The group plans to hold public meetings later this fall to discuss the borough’s future.
There was a push over the summer to have the borough be annexed by the city but that was shut down to allow local leaders and community members more time to consider the proposal.
