PITTSBURGH — The Sen. John Heinz History Center is planning a possible expansion, after purchasing a four-story building at 1211 Penn Ave. in the Strip District.
The center paid $200,000 for the property, which is located behind the history center on Smallman Street.
“The History Center is planning an expansion that will likely include classrooms, galleries, and a visitor orientation theater. The expansion will help secure long-term sustainability for our organization and further position the museum as a premier cultural attraction in Pittsburgh,” Andy Masich, president and CEO of the Heinz History Center said in a statement.
Officials with the center said the expansion plans are very tentative, and declined further comment.
