NORTH BRADDOCK, Pa. — An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with a North Braddock homicide from early November that left a father dead.

Police said the victim, 52-year-old Theodore Jones, interrupted a burglary at his home in the 1500 block of Beech Street. He was killed in front of his young son.

“Loyal. He was one of the most loyal people,” said Jones’ best friend, Jim Reddy Jr. shortly after he was killed.

Detectives determined that 18-year-old Duwan Carey from Port Vue was one of the people responsible for the homicide. Carey was arrested Thursday morning and was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Investigators are working to identify the other people involved.

Jones’ family sent Channel 11 a statement after they learned of the arrest in the case:

“This was such amazing news our family got to share, with everyone that knew Ted. Lots of happy tears all around. We’re all so relieved to have at least one piece to the puzzle. While this news has definitely brought some relief to family and friends, obviously nothing will help with the huge hole it has put in all of our hearts. We look forward to finding anyone else involved, and thank everyone for their continued love and support”
