A Monroeville man turned himself in on homicide charges after police said he hit and killed a pedestrian in Monroeville in August.

Cody Riggins, 27, turned himself in on Wednesday after a warrant was issued on charges of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, involuntary manslaughter and various driving offenses.

Police said he was driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance when he lost control of his vehicle and hit 32-year-old Thomas Risko.

He is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail.

Police said the incident occurred on Aug. 11 on Broadway Boulevard near Coffey Street, where first responders found Risko with serious injuries. Risko was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
