SMITH TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Washington County District Attorney has just announced homicide charges in the death of a baby boy that happened back in December.
Joshua George, 30, of Burgettstown, has been charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and related offenses.
According to the criminal complaint, Geroge was the only person who was caring for the 6-month-old baby when he suffered serious injuries.
The DA’s office said Smith Township police were dispatched to a home on Colony Road on Dec. 30 for a medical emergency involving a 6-month-old baby.
The next day, on New Year’s Eve, the baby was taken to Weirton Medical Center in West Virginia. He was then flown to Children’s Hospital, where he died.
According to the medical examiner, he died of blunt force trauma to his head. The doctor at Children’s Hospital said he suffered injuries consistent with physical child abuse, according to the criminal complaint.
