According to Channel 11 News’ exchange partners at TribLIVE, rescue teams raced to find the victim who was believed to be trapped in the drain – which was in his backyard on Clay Pike.
Investigators said the coroner was called to the scene just before 6:30 p.m. after the body was recovered. The man has been identified as 38-year-old Nathan Roth.
Officials from several units responded to the incident on Clay Pike at about 5:30 p.m., when the man’s wife called 911, a Westmoreland County dispatch shift commander told TribLIVE.
According to TribLIVE, his wife told police that her husband had just finished clearing the drain of leaves and sticks when he got pulled down.
“He got it unclogged, but then the rush of the water took him down with it,” the 911 shift commander said.
