PENN HILLS, Pa. — Penn Hills might become the second Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League school district to drop its Indians nickname.
The school district’s Athletic Advisory Committee is expected to talk about a possible name change Wednesday.

If approved, the district would stop using the Indians mascot, Native American logos and associated terms such as the “Tribe Student Section” and “CHIEFS Cyber Academy.”
The final decision will be left to the school board.
Shady Side Academy dropped its Indians mascot and team name in July.
