PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh dropped two spots in the Nielsen DMA rankings of largest metros by media consumption, falling to 24th from 26th last year.
Over the year, the Pittsburgh metro gained 8% in number of homes to 1.166 million, but 21 of the top 30 markets gained 10% or more in homes count.
Among the top 210 markets, all gained TV households as media consumption increased during the pandemic. The largest gain in households was by No. 207 Juneau, Alaska, at 40%. Miami-Ft. Lauderdale had the smallest household gain at 3.1%
Among the top 30 markets, No. 7 Atlanta moved up three spots, as did No. 24 Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, which along with Indianapolis jumped Pittsburgh in the Nielson market rankings.
