PITTSBURGH — The Southside Works Cinema has closed for good and will be transformed into office space.
The Pittsburgh Planning Commission gave the green light for the project. It will be renamed “Box Office" and it aims to bring in tech companies while keeping the movie theater atmosphere.
Once completed, it will be more than 70,000 square feet. The company behind the project also plans to pump $100 million into the Southside Works for additional updates.

People living nearby said it’s a unique change.
“Now that I’m seeing a lot of these businesses are going out, it’s a little depressing. I’m happy to see that it’s filling up again, even if it is office space. But it would be nice to see maybe some more entertainment coming back," Adam Gianamore said.
The company hopes to have the “Box Office” project finished by the spring of 2021.
