AMBRIDGE, Pa. — Uncle Bob’s house -- or the Dunn family home in Ambridge -- almost canceled their annual Christmas light display because of COVID-19.
But they were determined to keep it going and raise money for Saint Jude Hospital.
This is the 13th year the bright lights of Uncle Bob’s Christmas light display have lit up the neighborhood to raise money for St. Jude’s and in 2020, the family felt it was more important than ever to keep the spirit of giving alive.
“Because the world just doesn’t seem to be the same, we wanted people to have a little bit of something to look at and make them happy,” said Denise Dunn.
Here’s where the house is located for you to visit:
217 Maplewood Avenue, Ambridge, Pa. 15003
The family made the display bigger and better than ever, with more than 20,000 lights highlighting the land of misfit toys, with Santa, Mrs. Claus and Rudolph greeting visitors -- with their masks on.
Despite the pandemic, thousands came, donating more money this year than ever before for the kids fighting cancer at St. Jude’s, which is why this means so much to Uncle Bob.
“Just helping people, the kids, giving joy and hoping they make it,” Bob Dunn said.
TRENDING NOW:
They’ve already raised $8200 this year, which is almost a thousand more than last year.
“It just shows among all this mayhem going on in the world, people still care,” said Amy Schafer, Uncle Bob’s niece. “There’s hope, there’s joy.”
The hope is to raise more than $10,000 this year and to continue spreading joy throughout the season. If you’d like to visit Uncle Bob’s house and make a donation, you can do it anytime, day or night, through Jan. 7.
