PITTSBURGH — With temperatures at or below zero Thursday morning, several water mains burst along streets in the Pittsburgh area.
In Aliquippa, a line broke under the Ambridge Aliquippa Bridge, spraying water down below onto Route 65. Southbound lanes of Route 65 were closed.

Another messy break happened on Rialto Street in Pittsburgh’s Troy Hill neighborhood. Water and ice covered the pavement, and an SUV was seen sideways in the middle of the steep street.
Rialto Street was blocked off while crews put down salt.
In the city’s Carrick neighborhood, Spencer Avenue was closed between Almora Street and Custer Avenue because of a water main break and repairs being made.
Over in Stowe Township, water needed to be turned off to a line that broke along Lenore Drive.
