Dailon Tyler, of Little Rock, died from injuries he suffered from a gunshot wound at about 6:12 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the North Little Rock Police Department.

The shooting took place near the McCain Mall, according to the release. Police found a car that had been involved in a single-vehicle collision, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. Police said three people in the vehicle were suffering from gunshot wounds.

The other two victims, who were juveniles, were not identified by police. However, Tyler’s mother, Renalda Jones, said two of her children were injured by gunfire. She said her son’s last words to her were, “Mama, come save me,” KTHV reported.

“Five of my boys were in the car,” Jones told KTHV. “When we made it there, we saw two on the ground, one on a stretcher. One had been transported to the hospital.”

Jones said she received a telephone call at 5:45 p.m. from Tyler, the television station reported. Jones said he was asking for the size of another family member for some clothing.

“Then at 6 o’clock I get a call, ‘Mama! You have to save us, we love you,’” Jones told KTHV.

Police said on Monday that this is an “extensive and ongoing” investigation, KATV reported.

Joe Green, of the North Little Rock Police Department, said detectives will be working hard to solve the case.

“Nobody fathoms that for their families,” Green told KTHV. “Having to go to a family on Christmas Eve and having to explain to them that their child is dead. That hits you in the gut.”
