PITTSBURGH — University of Pittsburgh long snapper Cal Adomitis is known for his long, wavy hair and his long-snapping ability that helped the Panthers to their first ever ACC Championship. Over the summer, he was asked what it would take to shave his head — and the idea for Cal’s Kids was born.

Adomitis teamed up with UPMC Children’s hospital to raise money for their pediatric cancer unit. His original goal was to raise $94,000, since he wears No. 94 for the Panthers. Fast forward a few months, and after a conference championship season and more than $115,000 raised, the long snapper officially said goodbye to his hair with the help of some of Cal’s Kids. The moment was a long time coming for the Pittsburgh native.
“It’s been a lot of hard work, but a lot of great people helping out along the way,” said the Pitt senior. “Everyone we talked to about it all along the way was just as excited as we were, so it’s been a great ride. I’m looking forward to finally cutting this hair after raising over $115,000.”
