Kathy Krista, Schubert’s mother, said her son moved to San Antonio, Texas, about a year ago, hoping to pursue a job in construction.

Police told WOAI-TV that Jennings was Schubert’s girlfriend, and they believe Villarreal was the shooter. Officials said they also believe Jennings and Villarreal could be in a relationship, according to WOAI-TV.

Police continue to investigate.

Schubert’s family members told Channel 11 News Friday that they were starting to worry that their son’s case had gone cold before hearing from police Thursday night.

“It's only been a few months, but that's a lifetime for us,” Ronald Schubert, the victim’s father, said. “I don't feel that justice has been served yet, but I know we're on the road to it.”

Schubert leaves behind three children, 10 brothers and 21 nieces and nephews.
