Duolingo completes $35 million fundraising round, increases company valuation

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh-based Duolingo raised $35 million in funding, bringing its total funding to $183 million, according to a news release.

The recent round of funding, led by Durable Capital Partners LP and General Atlantic, also brings the company’s valuation up to $2.4 billion.

Duolingo, which currently has 350 employees, reported plans to put the funding toward hiring and research and development for its language-learning platform and products. The company reported a total of 500 million app downloads and more than 100% revenue growth in each of the past three years.
