Pork & Beans, a downtown Texas-style barbecue restaurant, has closed its doors for good

PITTSBURGH — Pork & Beans, a downtown Texas-style barbecue restaurant, has closed its doors for good according to a post it made on its social media accounts. The restaurant first opened at 136 6th St. in the fall of 2016 and it was the fourth establishment to open downtown by the Richard DeShantz Restaurant Group.

“We’ve made the difficult decision to retire Pork & Beans, but all the wonderful friends and memories made will last a lifetime,” the restaurant said in an Instagram post. “We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to our dedicated staff and loyal guests.”

The Richard DeShantz Restaurant Group also operates popular Cultural District restaurants downtown which includes Meat & Potatoes, the first restaurant to launch by the group in 2011, as well as Butcher and the Rye and Tako. Poulet Bleu in Lawrenceville, Coop de Ville in the Strip District and Fish Nor Fowl in Garfield make up the group’s other locations outside of downtown.
