Steelers are now worth $3 billion as value climbs in last year

PITSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers are now valued at $3 billion, an increase of 7%, according to a new report from Forbes.

It’s the second year in a row that the team’s value rose, although the Steelers moved down one place on the list since Forbes’s ranking last year. The team is now the 15th most valuable NFL team, falling just behind the Green Bay Packers (worth $3.05 billion) and ahead the rival Baltimore Ravens (valued at $2.975 billion).

Owned by the Rooney family, the Steelers have annual operating income of $86 million, Forbes says.

The Dallas Cowboys remain the NFL’s (and the world’s) most valuable team, worth a whopping $5.7 billion. The Cowboys also have the highest profit of any team: $425 million. The average team drew $109 million in profit, and the Eagles made about $120 million in profit, for comparison.
