2 people shot in Butler, police asking for more information

The cause of an explosion that happened earlier this week in Youngstown, Ohio, was caused of a crew cutting a gas line they thought was turned off, authorities said.

BUTLER, Pa. — Two people were shot in Butler on Wednesday.

According to the Butler City Police Department, officers were called to the 400 block of West North Street for reports of shots fired.

Witnesses at the scene told police they saw a Black man who was around 6 feet 1 inch tall with a thin build running from the area. He was wearing a black beanie, black puffy jacket, black shoes and black pants.

Staff at Butler Memorial Hospital then reported that two victims from Youngstown, Ohio had arrived at the emergency room with gunshot wounds to their legs. The victims were 19 and 20 years old.

The victims told police they were in the back of a car near Broad Street when an unknown person shot them.

The cars belonging to the victims and the shooter or shooters may have fled the area. Anyone who has video or information about the shooting is asked to call Butler County 911 and ask for Sergeant Doctor, who is leading the investigation.

Both of the victims have been treated and released from the hospital.
