Carlow University dorm will also house Pitt students this semester

PITTSBURGH — The sign in front of Frances Warde Hall reads Carlow University, but the dorm, along with Dougherty Hall nextdoor, will be housing both Carlow and Pitt students this semester.

Freshmen Bradley Lazo from Long Island, NY, is among the roughly 100 Pitt students assigned rooms in the Carlow dorms.

“I think it’s going to be the same as almost everyone else,” he said.

He’s remaining positive about the assignment, despite the slightly longer walk or ride to class.

“If you walk to campus, it’s just a few blocks or we can take the bus. It’s no different,” said Lazo.

He’s eager to expand his social circle.

“I think it is exciting,” said Lazo.  “It really just opens up an opportunity to meet more people.”

Pitt says it’s relied on similar partner properties to house students in the past.

The school says more than 8,000 students are living in university housing this semester.

Pitt student move-in wraps up Thursday.

That’s the same day Carlow students will begin to move in
